Introduction
The Clean Resources Engineering Lab (CREL) is a multidisciplinary research hub dedicated to advancing sustainable engineering solutions for a low-carbon, resource-efficient future. The lab focuses on four integrated research themes: Smart Energy, Industrial Decarbonization, Water, and Environment. CREL develops intelligent energy systems that enhance efficiency and resilience, support the transition to net-zero industry through low-carbon process innovation and optimization, advance water technologies addressing the water-energy nexus, and embed environmental responsibility through lifecycle assessment, carbon analysis, and sustainable system design. By combining thermodynamic modeling, digital optimization, and techno-economic evaluation, the lab delivers solutions that are both technically robust and practically scalable.
CREL bridges fundamental research with real-world implementation by working closely with industry, policymakers, and academic partners. Our approach emphasizes innovation with impact—transforming research outcomes into deployable technologies that address climate change, resource scarcity, and environmental degradation.
